Monica Green & Cotton Club Big Band, 2009 Tour
When two initiatives, each with a wide musical trajectory behind, unite their strength, the result is more than a simple addition, it is a great empowerment of both contributions. That’s what the Cotton Club Big Band and Monica Green believe.
The Cotton Club Big Band is an authentic American Big Band with a rhythm section (piano, bass, guitar, drums and percussion) and a broad metal section (four trumpets, four trombones and five saxophones) specialized in Jazz standards interpretation.
Many soloist singers have collaborated with the CC Big Band: Miguel Angel Céspedes, Michelle McCain, Nestor Nazareno "Lupita," Laura Simó, Xavi Garriga ... Some of these voices are in the 2005 recording under the title "Cotton Club Big Band"
Monica Green was born in Rochester (New York) into a family with of great musical tradition. On tour in Spain with The Supremes (Monica was part of that group), she fell in love with Barcelona where she has stayed living since 1987.
Among his solo recordings, already in Spain, let’s underline "Soul Shoes" (1991), "Sayonara" (1994). She has been continuously appearing in theater plays ("Blues in the nit," "Cues of Pansa"...) and on TV (his last appearance was in "Buenafuente"). In 2007 she had more than 200 performances and by now she has scheduled most of the 2010.
Together, on this great occasion, Monica Green heading the Cotton Club Big Band, have greatly increased their repertoire with soul (Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, James Brown ...) Gospel, Pop - Rock ... which gives versatility to attend all kinds of events.
